This week we had Sarah doing an amazing presentation on colour on how important it is for it to be included into some of the designs that you might be doing. This also helps us to develop our images further and add different colours and tones to it which is really important.
Sarah also discussed about different colour system that can be used throughout making different art and the usage of colour wheels that can be very useful. We also discussed the emotion that colour can add to certain images in the world or your art work. Sarah showed us multiple examples and images of different colours that might have different emotions because of the colours that they have.

We talked about additive colour and subtractive colour and how they are able to change the look of something. How using them can create different shadings and emotions.
After Sarah has talked to us about certain colour types and different tones of colours and how they are can be used she asked us to look at thumbnails from our team members and take out your thumbnails from previous weeks and pick one of those colour schemes and try to play with some of the colours and colour the simple environment that you might have in your thumbnail.
I have picked my own thumbnails for the work in the class because I liked mines the most. The problem for me was that I have never actually used a tablet or drew digitally so this was definitely a good challenge for me that I could use to explore different options and possibilities. This was also a really good opportunity for me to do some colour study because Sarah explained the topic very well so I wanted to try out adding some of the colours to one of me composition drawings.
We were told to play with some colours with one of the compositions that we do have so I have decided to ask for a tablet and use Photoshop for the first time when it comes to digitally drawing. Before that I looked up a tutorial that really helped me out figuring out different tools that I might be able to use.
It was really informative when I have watched the video and I have found out about different brushes and different tools that are available for me. I then began creating my creation which was a really good experience.

I choose to look at the colour and design one of my compositions that I have designed before. When Sarah have talked about different colours I definitely picked up on the purple and the blue colours because they can mean mysterious things or even sometimes the colour purple can compliment and environment or an object if used right. This was my first time drawing digitally because I have never drew digitally before and I choose one of my scenes to draw. This was really exciting because I always seen everyone using their tablets to create different art and when I found out that I can try it out I was actually really happy about it because Its a different kind of tool that opens up multiple options. As you can see that the designs and the colouring isn’t the very best and I agree with that, but I have put in my all with this image and It was really good finding out about different tools that photoshop provides. Before I started drawing this image I have asked help from our technician because I didn’t even know how to set up the tablet or use photoshop.
This was definitely a learning experience and in the future I will definitely be coming back to photoshop and trying it out again.

Then after we were done with the first thumbnail and exploring the colour a bit. Sarah has continued the presentation and thought us about colour and how it used emotion. How every single colour other will mean something else. She gave us a bunch of examples from images and tv shows and just different designs and asked us how does it makes us feel. I have some of the images here below to show you some of the images we were asked about.
These are some of the images that she brought up on the screen and she asked us a little about what do we thought these colours means in these specific images and what emotion they might portray. As a class we all took turns and answered to some of the images. When she was talking about the colour green and then asked us what do we think it means, and I said it looks like a calming colour. A colour of harmony and peace. She agreed with me, but she also said that it can also be used for things like mystery and magic.
Then she gave us the exercise two and told us to pick one of the colour emotion and then take one of the thumbnails and think about what colour could fit into the world. Before starting she told us to just take a second to think about what emotions you want that thumbnail to convey. Also she told us to pick one of the colour palettes and then just explore some of the colours and just have a little fun. She also posted a simple composition image at the end of the slides and said if we wanted we could use it instead of our own thumbnail which was really nice. When the class ended she told us to just have a little fun and not rush and just explore little colours. She also told us to finish the work that we have started in class at home.

We then got to do another exercise and I was really excited because this one was about even more colours and the emotions that it gives out. I would also get to use the tablet again which I was hyped about because I was never comfortable with learning to draw digitally because everyone around me would always be so good and I am just a rookie. It never felt good, but this week i felt comfortable exploring and enjoying the digital work.

As you can tell I have used my crystal palace sketch as the reference for this creation and I am honestly was so proud of myself for keep trying out digital work and photoshop, which can be really hard to deal with. I have used multiple different colours in this image to betray like a cold castle emotion because thats the castle of the queen. I have use some of the pink because it keeps it a little girly and whimsical. I have used different shades of green because it represents diamonds and my world which is made out of diamonds. Those green colours also represent things like hope and peace, I wanted it to be like that because the queen that lives inside the castle is a queen that fights for peace. Thats just a little bit of my story.
There are definitely many errors in this piece, but I am still proud of it because its letting me learned a lot about using colours and just drawing digitally in general. Hopefully in the future I can look back at this image and just smite because I will definitely be learned more about digital drawings every day.
