This was the first normal week we had in the University and it was still pretty scary because I was really worried and over thinking everything that was happening. I had so many bad thoughts of just me being here in general and if it was a right choice.
This was the first official week when our studies started and probably one of the scariest week of my life because throughout the whole week I was feeling lonely and scared because I didn’t have anyone by my side.
This week we officially and properly introduced each other and each of the lecturers talked a little about themselves and how they got into animation etc. Then Alec did a little ice breaker for the whole class by making each of us introduce our selves and talk about our favourite animation. I of course said that my favourite animation is anything from league of legends or any game in general because they make the best cinematics.
We then got introduced to the module and what are we going to be doing the first semester and when I saw the schedule for all the year I was so shocked and scared because I was still figuring out if I wanted to be here and what else I could maybe be doing. I knew that the first semester isn’t going to be good for me because it takes me a very long time to adjust to anything new. We discussed about failing and how we should fail often and have unfinished work and and just focus on trying and experiencing things. I really liked this because Alec seemed to be very nice about it and told us that he hates the marking system and that we should just have fun the first year.
He mentioned a couple of rules that we should keep while we are studying here because it keeps everyone safe which is nice. We talked about where we are going to be most of the time during classed and how we must treat others with respect. We then also talked about different kind of classes that we will have through out all the years of being here. Ranging from tutorial to workshops.
He talked about the amount of hours that each class will take and how many hours of independant study that we will have.
Alec has thought how to use blackboard and how we are going to find anything that we need inside there which is really good because all the lecturer slides will always be on blackboard for us to go over. He talked about each of the weeks and what we will be studying each week which I really liked because I got to see what we are in for the first semester. I was really interested in he thought of life drawing and I was trying to think about what’s that going to be like. I was also excited to get to learn about characters and such because I feel like characters are my favourite topic.
We then found out that life drawing wont start till week 5 and I was wondering why, but there is nothing that you can do about it.
We talked about the things that we will possibly need throughout for things like sketching and creating art. He also recommended us all the software that we could possibly use.
We then got introduced to our first assignment of the semester and I was so scared when I have seen it because I am always scared of dead lines and assignment in general. We have to design a world of our choice which sounded great at first.
We all then got split into the teams and were told to think of different ideas designs that maybe we could brainstorm and think about for the start. It wasn’t rally as fun as I thought because my team members were as shy as me so they didn’t really say much and everyone was pretty much silent. We only managed to come up with a single idea called “Freshers Flue”. Which I didn’t really like, but we had to go with something so I didn’t complain.
These are some of the ideas and sketching for our world that we did as a group when we we were told to come up with at least one presentable idea.

This was the idea that the group decided which and I got to tell you that this is definitely an upgrade from the first idea that we had. It was freshers flue before, but we quickly changed it because it turned to be like a joke in the end.
